LaJolla Half Marathon - Triple Crown Series

This is part 2 of 3 of the Tri-City marathon series, the first one being the Carlsbad Marathon on Sunday, January 15th.

The La Jolla Half Marathon is one of America's most picturesque and beautiful point-to-point races. Starting at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, the course follows a scenic coastal route before reaching the challenging climb to the summit of Torrey Pines State Park.

After leaving the park, the course rolls atop Torrey Pines mesa, continues down through the residential district of La Jolla Shores, and finishes in Ellen Browning Scripps Park at La Jolla Cove. The La Jolla Half Marathon is race #2 in the Half Marathon Triple CrownSM Series.

* Voted as one of the top 12 "Must-Do Half Marathons in the US" by Competitor.com (out of 2,200 races!). *

The Expo was held at the Hilton San Diego/Del Mar and well done. The usual vendors, but nothing super special right up until they had this horse that everyone was signing. I assume it was made out of paper mache and was a real hit along with all the fun signs you could hold for picture taking.

Definitely one of my favorite races and right her in my own backyard.

The finish line was the best part. Finishing at Ellen Scripps Park above La Jolla Cove, drawing an amazing crowd at the finish line, literally lined with people as you run through the line. Epic experience!

The race coordinators captured this picture of me crossing that best captures why I do this in the first place.
